2015 Elections: Myth or Reality?

GEJ the last nigerian president?

I have been watching the nigerian political scene with interest but rarely commenting partly because I see a sea of selfish ambitions in garbs of service to the nation but focused on looting.

I believed there was going to be an election in 2015 especially with the vigour that pro jonathan campaigners started the preparations for the 2015 presidential election using various groups.

I also watched as the North East slowly slipped a town at a time into absolute anarchy, when boko haram campaign picked up after the death of president Musa Yaradua, I watched as stuffs we hear happening in far away countries began happening here.
I naively believed a Nigerian could never be a suicide bomber, it was the Arabs who could do such things until I started hearing of bomb blasts all over the north east and abuja.

When it turned into a war, I had so much confidence in our soldiers to rout out these insurgents going by their track record of stopping the war in Liberia and Sierra leone. I believed the army just didn't want to appear brutal but alas I was wrong!

Then the blame game started, as people died the politicians played the deaths for maximum political gains.  The religious bodies were not left out each group pointing accusing finger whilst ardents of all faiths got slaughtered.

Through all these macabre din, the electoral dance began, not like it ever stopped but it reached higher crescendo daily.  The peak was the NASS brouhaha at which point I stopped and viewed the whole system with my macroscope and realized, we are all just being taken for a huge ride, a long con, there cant possibly be an actual plan for any presidential election to take place in 2015!

Lets go back to the days of  SDP and NRC in which baba Maradona himself Gen IBB took us all on a merry go round of a phantom transition to civil rule.
I remember he first said people should form their parties which they did then after awhile he found an excuse, created two parties, drew up manifestos for both, built party offices throughout the country, organised primaries, there  was even debates on national tv which culminated in the freest and fairest elevtion in the history of nigeria and a yoruba man defeated tofa in his own state!

Chief Abiola emerged the winner after 7 years of a long con only to die in prison because Ibb was actually taking us all on a ride! he planned for all to fail!

I remember that Chief gani fawehinmi was the lone voice who insisted and fought right from the start of the phantom transition saying Gen IBB had no plans to leave power!
Now yet again I see signs there will be no presidential election holding in 2015.

I will give you my reasons in the next series of this post.

29 year old woman accidentally shot dead by her 2 year old son inside Walmart!

This 29 year old woman was accidentally shot by her 2 year old son inside Walmart!

Veronica Rutledge was shot in front of her three other daughters

The woman was with four children in the store's electronics section when she was killed

Police have identified a young woman who was shot dead by her toddler son in a supermarket, after he reached into her purse and fired a concealed handgun.
Officials said Veronica Rutledge, 29, was shopping in the Walmart store in Hayden, Idaho, with the two-year-old and her three daughters when she was shot and killed shortly after 10am.
The toddler had been placed in a shopping trolley’s child-seat and was able to put his hand into Mrs Rutledge's purse. She died before the emergency services could reach her, police said. Officers used the store's CCTV footage and witness testimonies to conclude the shooting was an accident.

They said the Mrs Rutledge had a licence to carry a concealed weapon but it was unclear why the gun went off so easily when squeezed by a toddler, and whether a safety catch was engaged.
The victim's father-in-law, Terry Rutledge, told the Associated Press that the mother-of-four "was a beautiful, young, loving mother".
"She was not the least bit irresponsible," he said. "She was taken much too soon."
Kootenai County sheriff's spokesman Stu Miller told reporters the incident in the store about 40 miles north-east of Spokane, Washington, was an accident. Mrs Rutledge's husband was not in the store when the shooting happened at about 10.20am, but he arrived shortly afterwards. All the children were taken to a relative's house.
The victim was described as a 'beautiful, young, loving mother' The victim was described as a 'beautiful, young, loving mother'
Mrs Rutledge, from Blackfoot, Idaho, about 380 miles from Hayden, was visiting for the holiday season. Police said she was browsing the store's electronics section when the incident occurred, according to broadcaster KREM 2.

APC VP slot - Tinubu fires back!

Former Governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu fires back!

I got this from a friend who got it from the Bola Tinubu's Media Team, the content may interest you.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The unfolding smear campaign against former Lagos governor and leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, is no surprise. It had been in the works for years since the Jonathan-led government realized that Tinubu commanded a powerful political followership. The successful merger and birth of the APC posed the most potent threat to the PDP and Tinubu an architect of the merger has become a marked man.

The thought of a Buhari-Tinubu ticket confounds the PDP hierarchy and their crisis-battered president. That Tinubu might be nominated as General Buhari’s running mate also incenses the small element within the APC who joined the party not for its progressive vision but to exploit its platform to press forward their vision of themselves. Having failed at halting General Buhari’s bid, the PDP disinformation machine has thrown itself into overdrive trying to stymie the selection of Tinubu. Sadly, some elements within the APC – elevating their personal ambition over party and national interests — have lent themselves to this endeavor.

During the Nazi takeover of Germany, madman Adolf Hitler became jealous of those within his own party who showed independent thought and who would not allow themselves to be bent just so he could satisfy his megalomania. Outraged, he engineered a purge executing the lot of them. This bloody scheme became known as the “night of the long knives.” In Nigeria, we have entered the “season of the wrong knives.”

The recent report on  one of the online news websites on the allegations bordering on his academic qualification is not new. What is new is how desperate they have become to stir up a new controversy using an old lie. In the past these allegations were successfully rebutted. Recent attempt to present them as fresh allegations will not go unchallenged.

As late as August 2012, Tinubu visited the university and was given a special reception and a tour by the school’s president. This would not have been done for a stranger. It would have been done for a distinguished alumnus.

After graduation, Tinubu landed jobs with two well established international companies, one the accounting firm Deloitte and Touche and the other, ExxonMobil. Such companies investigate an applicant’s academic background. If he had not attended school, these companies would not have hired him. He would not have excelled in them but he did.

The rumor about drug running is the lowest form of calumny.  He has never been arrested, charged or indicted for any drug-related crime. Had any such suspicion existed, the American government would not have granted him political asylum during the Abacha era. Under American law, asylum cannot attach to anyone who has broken or offended that same law.

Moreover, Tinubu travels frequently to the states. This means he has a visa. American law prohibits visa issuance to anyone reasonably suspected of drug dealing, let along being convicted of the same.

If I were Tinubu, I would place a wager with the PDP. He should offer to fly to America if the PDP would also send Mr. Kashamu. Both can fly to Chicago. Then he should bet the PDP who would return to Nigeria first. We all know the answer.

There is a vicious campaign to deter Tinubu from the APC ticket; this campaign is being run from the PDP’s basement. They fear him. They cannot assail his competence and experience. He has been an able senator and governor. They cannot assail his commitment to democracy. He has personally sacrificed more for democracy than all the PDP hierarchy combined. They fear his ability to campaign, to get out the vote and to protect that vote, especially in the southwest because they know that is the pivotal region where the election will likely be won or lost.

These assailants desperately try to scuttle Tinubu’s potential candidacy. In that the truth offers them no solace, they resort to lies. They seek to ambush the man under cover of innuendo and untruth. But their aim is off and their knives are wrong. In the end, what they use to injure him will turn to point against them. Such is the outcome when one engages in malice.

Thus, they seek to prevent a person who may be controversial yet he is perhaps Nigeria’s most able and versatile politician, strategist and policy maker. For perhaps the most gifted politician of his time not to seek national office is a luxury a nation in this dire circumstance can ill afford. In the end, governance has little to do with religion, region or rumor. It has to do with vision and competence. The wrong knives will never be able to cut that truth.

The online report, published by Sahara Reporters, claims that Tinubu withdrew his support for the ACN in the 2011 election due to blackmail by the president. It is rather odd that this report colors Tinubu as the villain. If the report were true, he would be a victim. President Jonathan and his administration would be guilty of the high crime of extortion. This tiny consideration seemed not to dawn on the authors of this scurrilous piece; so fixated on stabbing Tinubu, they implicate their own boss in wrongdoing. So eager to please their master, Jonathan’s mindless men further ensnare him.

If Tinubu had been scared off in 2011, it would make no sense for him to spearhead the formation of the APC against the same president. If the president had such control over Tinubu why didn’t the president use that leverage earlier to scuttle the APC before it gained a strong position in the political space?  The story makes no logical sense.

The particular accusations in the story further reveal the malice of mind of those peddling it. They claim Tinubu did not attend Chicago State University. They cite as their evidence a letter from the US Consulate. But if you read the letter carefully, the surname stated is “TinubO” not “TinubU.” If the University did a computer check on that name, the check would come up empty. The culprits likely misspelled the last name so that the name search would reveal nothing. This is clever but immoral; it is a wrong knife.

Meanwhile, Tinubu has genuine documents and pictures showing him as an award-winning student at the school. Nigeria should be proud that one of its own graduated an honor student from an American university over thirty years ago when that was more of a rarity than it is today. Instead, his detractors want to pretend he never set foot on campus.

Its Buhari/Osibajo for 2015!

Reports reaching me says Professor Yemi Osibajo is the chosen APC running mate for General Buhari.  He is a devout Christian from Ikenne.
This combo definitely puts APC on a great footing to clinching the 2015 keys to Asorock.

A two pronged master stroke that lays rest to the Muslim/Muslim ticket and also woos devout christians because Professor Osibajo is not just any christian but an RCCG pastor.

The race just got more interesting and my Bourdillon calculation just took a great wack!

The professor aside being a board of trustee member of the Redeemers University had also served in the Asiwaju Tinubu administration as Attorney general and commissioner for justice.

Justice has prevailed as the Ugandan made who was captured in video as she tortured a toddler got four years jail term as punishment for her cruelty.

Ugandan maid Jolly Tumuhirwe jailed for assaulting toddler

Jolly Tumuhirwe asked the court for forgiveness, as Catherine Byaruhanga reports
A Ugandan maid has been sentenced to four years in jail for assaulting a toddler, in a case which sparked national outrage after a video was released.
Jolly Tumuhirwe, 22, was filmed beating, kicking and stamping on the 18-month-old child.
On Friday, she said the attack was revenge after she was beaten by the child's mother.
The mother denied beating her. Earlier charges of torture were dropped.
Chief Magistrate Lillian Buchan told Tumuhirwe she had committed an "unjustifiable and inexcusable" crime.
She said the sentence was appropriate in light of the "ruthlessness exhibited" on an "innocent, helpless child", reports the AFP news agency.
Eric Kamanzi in court in Uganda - 8 December 2014

Mr Kamanzi installed a camera in his home after becoming suspicious
The video footage, which prompted the case, came from a camera the child's father, Eric Kamanzi, had installed in his home after noticing his daughter was bruised and limping.
He reported the abuse to police last month and circulated the video online to family members. The footage was later shared more widely, provoking horror and upset internationally.
Psychological consequences
After the sentencing, Mr Kamanzi said: "It's not for us to decide the punishment for what she committed.
"We hope this has set an example for other maids out there, that you can't just go to someone's house and torture their baby and expect to walk out," AFP reports.
Another family member, Rose Zimulinda, said the child was physically well now but there were likely to be longer term psychological consequences.
In Uganda, there is no requirement for people paid to look after children to have qualifications.
Police have recommended that parents do background checks with friends, neighbours, local police, council and previous employers before taking on nannies or maids given these responsibilities.

2015 - The Bourdillon calculation

2015, The Bourdillon calculation.

So much tension over the coming election. Another crescendo is the supposed purchase of warships by Mr Government Tompolo. (How can someone's name be Government sef?) But pause first.

Lets talk about APC and the bourdillon calculation.
How do you wrest power from a ruling party when your own party is as corrupt if not more corrupt than the ruling one? Well you use the GMB formula!

Hold up a beacon, especially a self righteous  beacon so desperate for power he jettisons his own principles to go into alliance with people of questionable characters,  emergency progressives who two weeks ago were conservatives and will switch back if they dont get what they want.

Then use change as the mantra, people everywhere always want change and care less what kind of change; you know the way many car drivers would rather be moving than wait out a traffic jam even if the alternative route takes longer than the wait? Such is the mind of the people especially the undiscerning ones.

Ok so we have a beacon and a mantra, next phase is hire a company that can sell both

" Abuja – The All Progressives Congress (APC) said it has engaged the services of an international political consulting firm, AKPD Message and Media, “to boast its electoral chances in the upcoming elections’’.
The APC Interim National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja that the U.S. firm has a strong reputation for supporting leading populist movements across the globe.
“As a party destined to bring change and succour to all Nigerians, APC is proud and excited to work with one of the foremost exponents of change in the world,’’ the statement said.
It said that the Chicago-based firm was best known for its leading role in President Barack Obama’s presidential campaigns in 2008 and 2012." More at http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/02/2015-elections-apc-hires-foreign-consultant/

And if you are in doubt , according to wikipedia "AKPD's advertising and strategy have been widely credited for significantly altering elections in their clients favor." More at
http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AKPD_Message_and_Media

So who is AKPD's client, APC or the people?
Or are the Nigerian masses no more than just another business venture for APC?

Ok so you have your Media firm to deceive the people, what next?

I have continuously asked this question and yet to get an answer from GMB supporters;  what punishment awaits GMb's party leaders and ex govs who have done incalculable financial damage to the country via nepotism, contract inflation, land grabbing, private jets purchases, stupendous wealth overnight etc.  Even GMB has been unable to answer.

Personally, I believe GMB wants to get into power first and then deal with them; being no fools either, these guys are waiting with the burdillon calculation.

If I am the Lion, and I know this man I am putting in power can turn on me and not only whittle my influence but also put me in jail what will I do since I'm not stupid?

Well the primary objective is to wrest power the next would be to seize that power once its wrested.
How do you seize power in a democracy?
you impeach the president!

Are you saying that cant be done? Ok how did General Buhari lose out as the head of state? He was outed in a palace coup without a shot fired in his defence!

If as a military man it was that easy to chase him out how easy would it be as a loner surrounded by wolves desperate to have access to the national coffers?

Given Buhari's antecedents,  it would be mere weeks for him to commit impeachable offences and for a man described as having no friends amongst the people hoisting him up, then getting him out would be a walk in the park.

So this Monday,  watch out for who is announced as his running mate and know that that person will become your commander in  chief weeks after may 29 if GMB does win the election.
I sincerely hope its not former governor Tinubu

That is the bourdillon calculation for you!

Note too, I heard that Senator Tinubu might be Ambodes deputy,  hehehe, if she is then you just met the first female governor in Nigeria for Ambode will also fall to the bourdillon calculation.

To Tompolos warships,  just like Christians have nothing to fear about the implementation of sharia in the whole country as canvassed by General Buhari, I guess the rest of Nigeria has nothing to fear from the warship after all warships function on the sea, so we have nothing to fear.

And am I sure that even if the south south secede, APC has the plan to move the rest of the country forward since in the country they hired AKPD from, the landowners own the resources on the land; I wouldn't want 2015 to be about access to the oil in the south south I would want it to be about good governance as APC has been mouthing.

 APC! change!

"My watch" - Pa OBJ is as bad as those who import toothpicks

Between President Obasanjo and Segun Adeniyi both claiming to be patriots and loving Nigeria, well isn't it funny that both of them imported the books they want you to buy?

They both chose a publishing house that prints books abroad paying in dollars and then import same back into nigeria despite the numerous printing presses in our country?

Next time you read the numerous nonsense being published by our so called elites and self appointed leaders and you think they actually love the country, well they dont.
They are not patriotic nor do they care about you.

Abi why would customs be asked to seize the book published by president OBj if not that its imported?

They all fight during the day but drink and balance their books together at night!

http://leadership.ng/news/394365/obasanjo-book-publisher-play-hide-seek-security-agents

I hope a patriotic Nigerian makes an e copy and put it on the internet,  I'm sure not buying books filled with lies and half truth.

See below Segun Adeniyis glee as he talks about how he and Papa OBJ improverish the nation and cause a weak naira by importing books. Yet we blame people who import toothpicks, whats the difference please tell me?

http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/obasanjo-------s-unguided-missiles/196346

"Since President Olusegun Obasanjo seems to have appropriated the title of Baba, I knew instantly who Egbosa was referring to but still wondered the nature of the response so I sought to know how. “In his coming book that Kachifo is publishing. Baba yab you no be small”, he added in Pidgin English before laughing.

Right there and then, I requested that I should be given a copy of the book the moment it came out. I believe I had a right to that because when the promo of my Yar’Adua book came out before the release in December 2011, Obasanjo had requested that he be given a copy the moment it arrived. And he was obliged with Kachifo CEO, Mr. Mukhtar Bakare, driving with a copy to Ota at midnight on the day the consignment arrived the country."

According to the publishers website, they love Nigeria too, hehehe

Kachifo Limited is an independent Nigerian publishing house set up in 2004 to tell our own stories. We are the publishers of Farafina Books, Prestige Books and Farafina Magazine until suspension of its publication in 2009. We have also established a non-profit trust, Farafina Trust, whose broad mission is to promote literature and literary skills in Africa.
Kachifo Limited aims to set high standards for editorial, conceptual and production quality in the Nigerian publishing industry.

Yeah right!

Apc presidential primaries - Gen Buhari wins with 3430 votes

And General Buhari wins the APC primaries polling 3430 votes to beat other contestants.
Governor Kwankwaso came a distant 2nd with 974, followed by Alhaji Atiku with 954 votes, Governor Rochas polled 624 votes whilst Mr Sam Nda- isaiah had 10 votes.

The election that lasted for almost 40hours was transparent and free.
He will face off against President Goodluck Jonathan if elections will hold next year as promised by INEC.

I expect increased tempo in the APC campaign and high level politicking and power struggle as a running mate is yet to be chosen.

I watch with intensity.

Congratulations to General Buhari.

Update - Apc Presidential Primaries - Buhari leads, will 'cantab' Atiku

General Buhari has taken the lead with over 1655 votes and still counting.
I estimate he will have between 2000 and 2500 votes.
Kwakwanso remains the main challenger and his votes will be counted next.

Its clear however that Gen Buhari will 'cantab' Alhaji Atiku.

Apc presidential primaries - Atiku polls 954 votes

Despite being viewed as the strongest contender against Gen Buhari candidacy for the Apc presidential flag for the 2015 general elections,  Alhaji Atiku polled a dismal 954 votes out of over 7200 delegates that voted.
I am sure Senator Amosun the governor of Ogun state however didnt vote for him.

General Buharis vote is currently being counted. 211 and still counting

APC primaries results - Buhari or Rochas?

The sorting of ballots has been concluded and counting about to commence.
General Buhari shot into an early lead and was looking the clear winner but now its not too certain if he is the clear winner as Governor Rochas and Kwakwanso also had a good number of votes.
The only thing I am sure of at this point is that Alhaji Atiku has lost this election, as they say on Bigbrother, his chase ends here.

I will update you as I watch on TV, hehehe, were you thinking I was there?!

Ebola vaccine trials halted in Geneva

Ebola vaccine trial interrupted for checks after joint pains - Geneva hospital

According to Reuters, a clinical trial of the Ebola vaccine by Merck and NewLink has been interrupted in all 59 volunteers in Geneva a week early "as a measure of precaution" after four patients complained of joint pains in hands and feet, the University of Geneva Hospital said on Thursday.

"They are all fine and being monitored regularly by the medical team leading the study," it said in a statement.

The human safety trials are due to resume on Jan. 5 in up to 15 volunteers after checks to ensure that the joint pain symptoms were "benign and temporary", the hospital said.

The vaccine was approved on the 6th of November and trials started on the 10th of November.

Whilst the spread seems to be slowing down in Liberia and Guinea,  that of Sierraleone is on the rise as new bodies were discovered in a remote village away from the epicenter.

FRANCE SUSPENDS DELIVERY OF WARSHIP TO RUSSIA

French built Russian carrier

Barely 48hours after a Russian cargo plane with French military hardware and crew were detained in Kano nigeria under still unsatisfactory explanations,
France (according to AP) suspended the delivery of a warship to Russia on Tuesday, after months of speculation about what would be the biggest arms sale ever by a NATO country to the Kremlin.
More fAssociated Press

French President Francois Hollande's office announced the suspension "until further notice" after growing pressure from allies due to tensions over Russia's actions in Ukraine. The decision exposes France to eventual fines for not fulfilling the contract.
The Vladivostok, meant for delivery this month, is docked at the French port city of Saint Nazaire, where about 400 Russian sailors have spent months training aboard the vessel.

Cooking Efo Egusi with 7 lives - Part1

Yes, I'm back. I actually didnt have all the stuff I needed so I dashed out to the corner shop to get shrimps.

Sorry i'm just concluding the post today, was spent by the time i finished yesterday and also had to resize the pictures to make them smaller.

I think I should list the ingredient now.
Kidney, Shaki (tripe), ponmo (cow skin), shrimps, liver, dried fish and panla (stock fish).
Those are the '7 lives'

Other ingredients and condiments are cooking oil, palm oil, spinach (efo soko), ground melon (egusi), onions, knor cubes, black pepper, ground chili pepper, ground fresh chili and scotch bonnet (ata rodo) curry, thyme, salt. (table salt oo!)

Boil the ground ata rodo and chilli pepper for about 15mins.
Wash and season the shrimps with salt just like you would fish.

Soak the panla (stock fish) in hot water and cover it (to make it soft), after about 30mins break it into chunks.

Clean and dice the ponmo, put on fire and spice it with salt and boil like you would beef.

Dice the fried kidney, the fried saki (tripe) and the fried liver. Boil the liver separately during the boiling stage.

Shred the vegetable, wash and soak in warm water and cover it.

Now its time to prepare the stew for the efo,

Pour some cooking oil into the pot, allow it to heat up and add the ground pepper. stir and leave to simmer for a whie.

Next, add the panla to the stew, adding it first will make sure it becomes even softer. leave it for about 5 mins and then add the strained ponmo, add the diced shaki, kidney, liver next. Add knor cubes and salt to taste, cover and leave to simmer.

By now the shrimps is ready to be fried. put little oil in the frying pan, heat it up for about 4 mins and thrown in the shrimps. fry till its pink, it doesn't take long to.

Prepare the egusi by dicing sm onions, salt the ground egusi and then add little water, very little and make a paste with it.

Pour some palmoil into a pot and heat it up till its very hot, add the egusi in clumps, fry it without truning it for about 3 mins then keep turning.
here is the trick, ensure you fry it well so the efo can keep properly.

I will post the concluding part soon

Cook Efo egusi with 7 'lives' - the yomilawal way

I went on hunger strike at the age of 12, my reason for the hunger strike? Hehehe, I insisted on calling my older sisters by their first names against the cultural norms of prefixing it with "anti" (a sign of respect in yoruba culture).
My father, after telling me several times to stop disrespecting them; on a saturday knowing there would be no school and no opportunity for me to eat elsewhere gave the instructions that nobody should serve me any food till I attached the prefix "anti" to their name and thus commenced my first hunger strike as I was determined to never ever 'call these ones anti'?

The wait was like a lifetime and the pangs of hunger was like a stab wound, about 8hours into the strike when I couldnt hold out again, I went to my immediate older sister and mumbled "....sister lara 'wa' FUN MI LON JE O", my sister wanting to rub it in replied "mi o gbo" and I had to repeat it clearly.
Well beans and plantain never tasted that good before as I devoured my hard won meal hehehe!

Over the years vowing within me never to be at my sisters mercy over food and also being a finicky eater, I have perfected some art of cooking.

Today I will be making Efo elegusi with 7 different diced delicacies (7 lives) in it.

I will also show you the cheat sheet for making 'kokoless' eba under 5mins with a microwave oven.

Liberate yourselves gentlemen and ladies kindly discourage the guys by following,  tell me whatever I do wrong.
if you want a taste after I'm done cooking, do ask.

I'll be right back!

Update - Russian Cargo Plane in Kano - the plot thickens

And the plot thickens

First it was a plane bound for Chad but flew past Chad to land in Kano, and then it didn’t come from Russia but came from Central Africa republic going to Chad.
Then Russians disowned the plane and said they knew noting about it. It was a French crew they said.

Then Jesus touched Russia and it was their plane but not their cargo, the cargo belonged to the French.
In between all these Modu Sheriff the Nigerian born Chadian paid a secret visit to try and get the plane released.

Then more magic happens;
No ammunitions on board now, only French helicopters and it was being moved from CAR (as French peace keeping wound down) to Chad? Really? http://www.themoscowtimes.com/mobile/news/article/russian-plane-seized-in-nigeria-belongs-to-french-peacekeeping-mission/512688.html

So in essence, a peace keeping wound down is so secretive it involves 3 different governments with information clearance levels so high it takes over 48hours for them to get their stories straight?

Ok let’s do the maths. The plane left Bangui headed for Chad, anywhere between its flight path of hearing that N’djamena is closed, the best place to land would be Cameroon not Kano!
Because Cameroon is a French protectorate, has a defence pact with France and is nearer!

Distance between N'Djamena and Cameroon is just 604km
Distance between N'Djamena and Kano is 711km!
Distance between Bangui and Cameroon is 765km
Distance between Bangui and Kano is over 1200kms

So anyhow we look at it, Kano is a poor alternative destination for a Chad bound plane originating from Bangui.

Well, the French have been known to destabilize African nations for control of their natural resources; they were the power behind Cameroon over Bakassi issue with Nigeria. Chad is said to be eyeing the oil reserves in the Chadian basin in Borno, if France stole Bakassi by proxy, they could be helping Chad plan how to steal Borno too.

Once we hear boko haram is making use of attack helicopters we all know who to finger! Bonjour!

Russian Cargo plane in Kano - Another cover-up?

Story for the gods?

Story broke this morning few hours after I posted the AK-47 makeover and in the last lines suggested Russia could be looking at Nigeria as an alternative market due to the sanctions preventing her from exporting arms to her major customers in the US and EU.

Few hours later, news broke that a Russian cargo plane accidentally landed at Kano international airport and had been seized and the crew detained by the NA.

Mr Layi on my vibrant politics oriented bbm group quickly pointed out that there was no way a plane originating from Russia would have to pass through Nigerian airspace.

That got me thinking and I tried to make sense of the news, these are my findings.

Layi was absolutely correct..

The distance between Chad and Moscow is about 4800km as the crow flies.
That between Kano and Moscow is about 5500km as the crow flies.

Its safe to assume a Russian originating cargo plane will want to avoid flying over some countries and the distance will be a tad longer.

Chad has only one international airport, the N’Djamena international airport used for both civil and military purposes.

The Russian cargo plane with long range that could be used for such a job is either the

Heavy Transport Aircraft An - 124 "Ruslan" NATO Designation "Condor" a 4 engine aircraft that can fly at a maximum altitude of 12000 meters and go a maximum distance of 4500km if carrying full payload (150 tons) but with about 40t payload, range becomes 12000km
this means it can conveniently reach chad or Nigeria without stopping to refuel.
It requires just 6 crew to operate.

or

The russian cargo plane Ilyushin Il-76 (NATO designated "Candid"), a multi-purpose four-engine strategic airlifter designed by the Ilyushin design bureau. It was first planned as a commercial freighter in 1967, as a replacement for the Antonov An-12. It was designed for delivering heavy machinery to remote, poorly served areas of the USSR. Military versions of the Il-76 have seen widespread use in Europe, Asia and Africa, including use as an airborne refueling tanker or as a command center.

It requires just 5 crew to operate, has a higher operating altitude of 13000 meters but lower payload of 50tons max. the range is 4300km if its carrying maximum payload and thus will need to stop to refuel if it originated from Moscow.

Both planes have various variants. However Russia is the only country that uses both for military purposes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Antonov_An-124_Ruslan

Thus we can safely conclude the plane is Russian since the cargo is military hardware and its the Ilyushin Il-76 because 5 crew members were reportedly detained.

Attempted Spin

According to Reuters reports later came that the crew is French and the plane originated its flight from Bangui in the Central African Republic. Two helicopters were on board a bullet proof jeep and some other boxes
The plane will overfly Chad to get to Bangui!

Research shows the distance between CAR and Moscow is about 5600km, further than that to Nigeria as you can see in the map above. So we can safely dismiss it detoured to refuel at C.A.R. We also heard the Ndjamena airport was closed and that was why they had to land at Kano, the question remains, why fly to CAR if you were going to Chad?!

My Conclusion?

The only way that plane could have "accidentally" landed at Aminu Kano international airport is only if the destination was Kano in the first place. The story does not "gel"

What do you think?
